Managing Director, Calgary, Commercial Real Estate Finance
The successful candidate will lead the growth of KV’s market share and presence in the Calgary real estate market.
DESCRIPTION
This role will entail the development of new and existing borrower and lender relationships, originating and managing an individual book of business, and assembling and managing a high-performance local origination team. Success and compensation will be dictated by yours and your team’s ability to consistently source and close new transactions, leverage your network and industry expertise to bring value to your clients, and build KV Capital's reputation as a trusted advisor in the market.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
In collaboration with the Commercial Real Estate Finance leadership team, you will be responsible for:
-Being the “face of the firm” and promoting the KV brand in the Calgary marketplace;
-Growing the loan value and revenue generated in Calgary and surrounding areas;
-Managing KV Capital's Calgary office as a primary Alberta location from which Commercial Real Estate Finance supports its clients;
-Coaching and supporting the existing Director based in Calgary as he continues to grow his book of business;
-Recruiting for additional Directors in the Calgary marketplace who bring relationships and/or an existing book of business;
-Individually generating annual loan value and revenue commensurate with your senior experience level and personal relationships;
-Producing a consistent flow of new loan business to increase the Calgary deal flow multi-year pipeline;
-Strategically targeting and introducing KV as an advisor of choice to new clients, with particular focus towards KV’s proprietary capital solutions; and
-Introducing and fostering relationships with the Canadian lending market to provide additional lending solutions to CREF’s client base.

COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE FINANCE
Launched in 2019, our commercial real estate finance division has funded +$5B commercial deals collectively and our team has +100 years of combined experience. Together, we source financing solutions for land, subdivision financing, multi-family, retail, industrial, office, hospitality, mixed-use properties, and specialty financing such as equity and structured financing deals.
YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS
To be successful in this role you must have:
-A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience originating and managing a book of business;
-The ability to produce annual loan volumes of $200MM+;
-A post-secondary degree (mortgage brokering or financial designation is preferred, but not required);
-An outstanding reputation in the Calgary market and a clear fit with KV’s core values and professional culture;
-An established relationships network in the Calgary real estate marketplace and recognized expertise the Alberta commercial or residential markets;
-Outstanding people skills and a high emotional quotient;
-Exceptional analytical skills, financial acumen, and management capabilities;
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills to produce professional-quality communication material suited to its purpose and audience; and
-Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple priorities and competing demands with tight timelines.
