We are looking for a Residential Mortgage Underwriter who will play a key role in the growth and development of the residential mortgage division.


The successful candidate will analyze and critically assess all types of residential mortgage applications and have the desire and aptitude to help KV Capital develop the processes and systems required to make the mortgage application process simple for our clients. A high level of attention to detail and the desire to develop professionally in a dynamic work environment is expected. Supporting the underwriting and credit decision process by reviewing and verifying accuracy of all required documentation and applying efficient and comprehensive due diligence procedures on a deal-by-deal basis;

-Fulfilling all conditions required and communicating remaining conditions with the lenders/clients and brokers;

-Preparing and maintaining working papers to support underwriting recommendations and making sure all deals are compliant and properly archived;

-Providing excellent customer service to all parties associated with each mortgage transaction and maintaining positive business relationships;

-Staying current with latest industry knowledge and market trends; and

-Providing leadership on a variety of special projects including technological initiatives, process improvements, etc. with the aim to improve the efficiency of operations and facilitate growth.

The successful candidate is expected to have:

-Completion of a post-secondary degree. Preference will be given to candidates with a financial designation (i.e. CPA, CBV, CFA, etc.). Note this position will provide qualified hours for CPA, CBV and/or CFA candidates.

-Hold a current Mortgage License or are willing to secure a license through RECA within 6 months of starting the role.

-Previous work experience within the Financial Services sector or Mortgage industry considered an asset, but not required.

-Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, with a demonstrated expertise in Excel.

-Must thrive in fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Must have exceptional analytical skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and, a strong attention to detail;

-Proven ability to clearly communicate, maintain successful relationships, negotiate and navigate difficult situations with respect and understanding;

-Ability to initiate and implement changes and improvements;

-Desire to learn and flexibly grow within the organization; and

-Ability to actively promote a culture of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
