Private Equity
We invest capital and our time to enhance the value of great businesses
Speak with an expertBuilt on relationships
At their core, great businesses are built on win-win relationships. This understanding grounds our approach to acquiring controlling interest of up to 100%, and is the reason that many of the sellers we buy from continue to do business with KV after their transaction is closed. The customized solutions we offer for private companies across Canada and the United States provide business owners with partial or full exits that they feel good about.

How much is my business worth?
Selling a business is similar to selling real estate; the value is a negotiated amount between a buyer and seller. While there are different ways to estimate a business’s value, a common starting point is to determine a multiple of EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) over a period of 12 months.
What is the process of selling a business?
A discussion and preliminary analysis will help determine the ways in which we can work together. If there is mutual interest in moving forward, we will provide you with an offer in the form of an EOI/LOI(Expression of Interest/Letter of Intent). If the EOI/LOI is accepted, we will perform due diligence and then close the transaction. The timing for closing a sale is driven by the business owner and can take as little as three months.
Will KV invest in my business if I don't want to sell it?
We are excited by opportunities to partner with business owners and grow their business. KV's investment policy requires us to hold a controlling interest (51%+ of the equity).
What happens during due diligence?
Due diligence is similar to a financial statement audit; the difference is that the scope expands to include all aspects of your business. We use this time to learn about your business, verify the accuracy of information, and work with you to plan for what happens after the transaction closes.
What happens to the business after I sell it?
This depends on what your objectives are. If you are looking for an exit plan, we will work with you to arrange a smooth transition for all stakeholders. If you choose to stay on and partner with us, we will enact the growth plans agreed to during due diligence.
