Marc Prefontaine brings 24 years of full-cycle experience across Canada’s mortgage banking and brokerage industries to his role as Managing Partner, Real Estate Debt at KV Capital. With boots-on-the-ground expertise in underwriting, originating, and servicing loans, Marc has structured deals in aggregate excess of $5 billion spanning varied structures including pari-passu loans, A/B loans, club deals, and structured financing. 

Marc’s career in commercial real estate finance began in 2002 at MCAP, where he spent 17 years building deep expertise in the western Canadian real estate markets. In 2012, Marc was appointed to lead KV Capital’s Lending Review Committee, a role he held until 2019, when he joined KV Capital full time as President of KV Real Estate Finance Inc. Over his tenure with the firm, Marc has demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of compliance, risk management, and delivering customized financing solutions to clients across Western Canada. 

A graduate of the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, Marc’s passion for real estate extends beyond transactions to city building. He takes pride in watching Alberta’s cities grow and progress, and works to inspire the same passion in future generations. As a board member for the University of Alberta’s Centre for Cities and Communities, Marc educates students about opportunities in the real estate and construction industries.
