The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role supports both KV Capital and KV Mortgage Fund Inc., a mortgage investment corporation managed by KV Capital, encompassing accounting, fund administration, financial reporting and compliance across the platform.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting and fund administration activities, as well as the preparation of financial reports for a broad range of stakeholders, including management, investors, third party dealers, trustees, the Board of Directors, and regulators. This position requires strong analytical ability, a high attention to detail, advanced Excel proficiency, and clear, effective communication across teams. You will work closely across teams to support finance initiative. es and contribute to a high-performing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, general ledger analysis and maintenance of internal controls.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and operational reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Process full-cycle fund administration transactions, including investor subscriptions, redemptions, dividends and trailer fees.
  • Manage relationships and communications with external stakeholders, including exempt market dealers, investors, and trustees.
  • Assist in the preparation of external financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Collaborate with operations teams to facilitate accurate and timely reporting.
  • Support the annual audit process, including development of audit working papers and coordination with external auditors.
  • Assist in managing the accounts payable function.
  • Support compliance with tax filings, banking covenants, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to finance transformation initiatives, including system implementations, process improvements, and technology enhancements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting; experience in a public practice accounting firm is considered an asset.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial processes, and internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel skills, with demonstrated ability to analyze and manage complex data sets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to produce accurate financial reporting and analysis.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (completed or in progress) is considered an asset; this role provides qualifying hours for CPA candidates.
